Cheers! A pint of...

Post by PerG » Thu Aug 25, 2005 3:06 pm

...Guinness after having played Floorball with some friends is a great way to end the evening. There's nothing like sports and beer! Image Cheers guys and gals!

Please vote in the completely scientific investigation of the beer culture above.

The selection does not necessarily reflect the topic creator's taste (which happens to be British or Czech beer).

Well I actually dont drink pints and dont drink much beer but if when I do I like Calsberg Special Brew....preferably mmixed with Merrydown Cider, I recently found out that in the pubs in UK they are not allowed to serve snakebites anymore  IN FACT...I was heartbroken when I couldnt even get a Red Witch....when did those laws come in??

I know.... I could never get it California, bars dont sell cider with alcohol in and they dont sell blackcurrent juice so I had to go to Trader Joes or an English import store to get them....the blackcurrent juice always cost twice as much as the Pernod and Cider....but it was worth it.

Lately, I've been into Carlsberg. This Friday evening however, I am having some Great Lakes Moondog Ale. This is a Cleveland, Ohio brew. I didn't see it on the list, PerG, so I voted for Carlsberg.

Drink up!

I voted for Carlsberg - Don't really care for Guinness, I hate Budweiser and don't know most of the others (unfortunately :? ).

My favorite is Highgland Amber made by a local brewery (like Al), which also serves excellent food... and is only about a mile from house (so getting home isn't as much of a problem  )

All,

Can I have two votes - Guinness in the winter, and Carlsberg in the summer preferably in a side-walk cafe in Nyhavn, Copenhagen chilling with friends listening to a street Jazz-band.

Carlsberg tastes much better in Denmark!!

BTW, there is a great Irish bar called the Shamrock, just off the Radhusplasen, which serves an excellent pint of Murphy's (Cork version of Dublin's Guinness). Like drinking your mother's milk!!! Go try!!!

Andy.
A man could die of thirst - first to the bar and the last to get served....

Always been a bitter drinker myself, (beer to you uneducated, as opposed to lager). Do like a good single malt too !! Mind you, i'll drink anything if it's free ! Then again, who wouldn't ? Recently though have been on the Guiness and/or mild having been diagnosed diabetic. Had to cut right down !! Such is life eh ?
Stone me what a life.

My vote went to Bombardier. Not always my favourite, it depends on the mood I'm in. As for Budweiser, well, that's not a choice I would make myself. It tasted nothing the last time I tested it...(20 years ago or so) I believe there are far better american beers available as Al and Matt pointed out.

These USA beers are available in Sweden. Any recommendations of these?

Anchor Porter
Anchor Steam Beer
Michelob
Miller Genuine Draft
Samuel Adams Cream Stout
Samuel Adams Boston Lager
Samuel Adams Summer Ale
Samuel Adams Boston Ale
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Sierra Nevada Wheat
The Shipyard Fuggles IPA

And a tip from me: Try Zubr Classic if you want a dark tasty Czech beer!

Sam Adams is a consistently good choice. Mich is ok, but maybe a bit mainstream. Never had Sierra Nev. so can't help you there. Anchor is not to my liking. I actually don't like anything too strong, so when I just want something to "drink" with dinner, I like a Bud... kind of like having a coca-cola...only it's a golden hue!

Pint of.....

Post by ggggg » Wed Aug 31, 2005 7:43 pm

Don't drink beer.

Can I have a pint of 7&7 or Chocolate Martini or White Russian or Lynchburg Lemonade or Margarita (on the rocks) instead? Actually, I'm not even going to ask permission!
