Bob Denver, TV's Gilligan, Dies at Age 70
By JOHN ROGERS

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Bob Denver, the bumbling namesake of ``Gilligan's Island'' who embarked on what was supposed to be a three-hour tour and endeared himself to generations of TV fans, has died at age 70.

He died Friday at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in North Carolina of complications from treatment he was receiving for cancer, his agent, Mike Eisenstadt, told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Denver, who for the last several years had lived in Princeton, W.Va., also underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery earlier this year. His wife, Dreama, and his children Patrick, Megan, Emily and Colin were with him when he died.

Sorry, never heard of him or the TV programme. Guess it was mainly an American thing.

Dave...Im shocked, Gilligans Island played for years in UK in the 70's and repeats in the 80's

Heres some lyrics and a website that plays the song....youve GOT to recognize the song

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
a tale of a fateful trip.
That started from this tropic port,
aboard this tiny ship.
The mate was a mighty sailin' man,
the skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day,
for a three hour tour, a three hour tour………
The weather started getting rough,
the tiny ship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew,
the Minnow would be lost; the Minnow would be lost.
The ship took ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle,
with Gilligan, the Skipper too,
the Millionaire, and his Wife,
the Movie Star, the Professor and Mary Ann,
here on Gilligan's Isle.
