Mario Vargas Llosa and City Boy

I just happened to notice a strange coincidence between Peruan author (and Nobel Prize winner) Mario Vargas Llosa and City Boy.

In 1981, the same year as It's Personal was released, Vargas Llosa's novel "La guerra del fin del mundo" was published.
Or was it really a coincidence? Could Lol perhaps been inspired by that title?

Anyway, it seems Vargas Llosa five years later in 1986 tried his best to copy City Boy with another novel titled "Who Killed Palomino Molero? :uhhuh:
... and out!

I have always had a feeling that Lol Mason was interested in books and movies, so personally I do not think that it is a coincidence!
