Or how about the other way around; what influences does anyone hear in City Boy?

Hi
As being an ELO fan I see some ELO influences on City Boy,just on some songs in Book Early and TDTECF like What a night, Beth, Ambition, etc, but not in 5705.
About your question:
10cc
Be Bop Deluxe
difficult not say Beatles
I read about Kursaal Flyers, and Deaf School, but I heard few to say.
Cheers
Sebastian

Answering my own question - and since it's gotten quiet again,I'll just talk to myself for a while  - IP is the only album where I think I really hear influences from other bands. I catch some Steely Dan (Who Killed Delores), B-52's (Lovers) and there's another one...Name's And Addresses...but I can't quite remember now who I thought "Oh yeah, I hear so and so in there". Getting old, I guess.

Oh I forgot one; Telulah is very Honky Tonk Woman.

Did you ever get around to listening to CTS? Wondering what you thought of them.

8) Yes, The Police was it. Very Message In A Bottle. Or was that Sting, solo? Anyway you are very right. Thanks.

I wouldn't be surprised if both City Boy and ELO had listened to The Beatle's "Abbey Road" a few years earlier - harmonies, guitars, orhestration etc. could have been an influence to some degree.....
There was absolutely a Beatles influence.
