Talk of a reformation of City Boy
Dear all,
First, I'm sorry I haven't posted anything for such a long time.......
I have some news that will be of interest to everyone....and also a request.
Laurelie wrote to me recently - and I feel very bad about not even communicating with you - and suggested I get in touch with Renaissance Records about their re-releasing stuff..
Well, one thing led to another, and there is now some serious discussion going on about trying to reform the band with a view to releasing "It's Personal " in the USA, AND following it with a NEW City Boy album next year. Roy is definitely up for it, and John Edwards, the CEO of Renaissance records is in the process of ..... wait for it....trying to convince Mutt Lange to be involved with its production.
Who else? Too early to say at this stage. Lol has always said he would NOT be interested, but....
John will be contacting Mike and Steve. Watch this space!
The request; we are trying to locate the master tapes of IP, but an alternative woulod be to get hold of a pristine copy of the album itself, either on vinyl or on CD. Is there anyone out there who would be willing to lend John thier copy so that he could use it as a master? Please contact me immediately if you can do this. I think you all have my email address, but just post on the board - either the main one or the Forum.
Early days yet, but I am very excited, believe me!
LOVE to you ALL,
Max Thomas and you, uberbelly!!!

That was an understatement Matt, to say the least!!

Yes, I would certainly WALK and SWIM to the UK to see a re-union concert if that's what it takes...

Re: Talk of a reformation of City Boy
Welcome back, Max.
Wow!
You know I'm in the front row for that, and first in line for the new CD! Ditto Per's statement, but you know, America has lots of great venues, too. Let me get my dibs in now on a home town show. Any hope, or do I need to start practicing my freestyle?
Sorry, I don't have a mint copy of It's Personal, but I'll keep an eye out for one.

Hi Max,
Good to hear from you again and welcome back!
I can help you with a scan of the front cover for "IP" if you want. It is a made by a photolab that also did some corrections needed from the raw scan.
Just want to show you how my selfmade cover looks with a redesigned back cover (the picture is a bit blurry unfortunately)

I wish you all the luck with the reunion of the band!
Again good to hear from you

Wooooohoooooo!!!!! Yikes! I'll be walking on clouds now for some months. I hope as many as possible of the old band members will join. I hadn't actually thought about this happening even in my wildest dreams. It was just like with Beatles, the band was just simply not going together again and that was it. But I wish you all good luck and hope you will finally get the attention you deserve. Better late than never.

Well, that's a surprise for sure!
I've already pointed Max to our vault at http://xchange.cityboy.org/albums/its_personal/ where he can find the best transfer of IP this forum managed to produce. Thanks to "Martin, our Midlands motorcyclist" !!
Mutt Lange should have more time now to produce records
. Maybe he'l do it just for old times sake. I think the biggest problem will be to get Steve on board. But we will wait and see what happens.

Wow
A new City Boy album with Mutt? Awesome...a match made in heaven.
Guess that means you'll have to come back to Canada then, eh? Maybe bring some t-shirts Max? Hell, I'd even plan a trip to the UK just for the chance to see you guys. Can we somehow let Steve and Lol know how much this would mean?
I guess I'll be blasting all my CB stuff all day today...

Re: Talk of a reformation of City Boy
Best thing I ever read! Max, rest assured that you have a solid and dedicated fan base here and we will do evrything in our power to help you. Unfortunately my own copy of IP got a little damaged when I had a humidity problem in my basement, but I am certain that some of the other guys here have a mint copy. If not, we can always try with mine.
I really hope you will be able to convince the other guys for this reunion, good luck!

Re: Talk of a reformation of City Boy
Well, that would be something wouldn't it.
Like Per, I am willing to swim and creep on my lame knee to wherever to witness a concert.
And I would take a second mortgage on my house to buy the new album...
Talking of money, a (perhaps premature) idea to finance the costs for studio, producer, travelling etc. :
sell the new album by pre-order. The fans pay in advance for the album via internet, raising funds for the recording costs.
Bands like Mostly Autumn and Marillion have done this many times with success, a proven concept so to say.

The bigger the miracle, the smaller the audience
