Dave made his treasures available to the CB-community.
We are not worthy, but we download as fast as we can

You will only find the mp3s there right now - the FLAC and WAV files will follow later on!

enjoy, listen and discuss...

...and praise the MIGHTY DAVE

Our man from Coventry has done it again: First the press cuttings and now this! Thumbs up, Dave. And thanks for the on-line hospitality, Thomas.

It's a pleasure my dears !!!!

Be interested to hear comments on Chris' contributions. Firstly against the other Bottom Line show, (which we had, though with two less songs :- DATR & HKDK and also Dear Jean in a different position !).
Secondly, what's the opinion on the edits to get them onto one disc each ? Got to be honest, it's the one thing with live recordings that makes me want to KILL !! (That and 2 second gaps at each track mark !!).

2 second gaps are easily fixed with both Nero and Roxio Cd burning software. I think I will certainly have a go at re-editing a few of these files and also re-mixing the sound.

I may even compile a "Best of City Boy Live" CD with tracks taken from different shows merged together so it sounds like one continuous concert.

Loads of things are possible I just need to find the time.

Rito did you lose my remaster of the 1978 Boston show? If you want it back up in the vault just let me know. I should have the CD cover Stefan P did for it as well.

Speaking of remasters. I was halfway through Birmingham when I found out I had made a major mistake in the cleaning process. I will probably spend the autumn trying to resore Dave's classic. Have a few new tools to try on it. :)

Edit: About that 2sec gap. Nero 7 havs a bug in the mp3 decoder that removes 1sec or 2 from the beguinning of mp3 files in no matter if you set the gap to 0 (zero) in the prefs for the song. The problem has nothing to do with the gap, it's the decoder that actually removes the first blocks of the mp3. The remedy is to find the mp3 dlls from version 6 and replace the original Nero 7 ones. Nero 7.2.3.2b is supposed to fix the problem but I have seen people complaining about still having problems. The worst part is that even if you uninstall Nero 7 it will leave the newer decoder DLLs on your harddrive and they will not be overwritten by the older version.

Here is a way to fix it:

1. Download the working mp3PRO.dll here http://ramzal.com//upload_files/1171288617_mp3PRO_v6_Plugins.zip
2. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins
3. Rename mp3PRO.dll to mp3PRO.old
4. Extract your freshly downloaded mp3PRO.dll into that directory
Wish I could be their Wongo king<BR>If I only knew the song to sing

Sorry for the delay... but you'll have to wait for a few days longer. I'll be leaving for a short vacation in Croatia tomorrow

Just a note: I think I won't put up the .wav files. I'll just use flac and you can decode them on your computers. The filesize of flac is only half of the orginal wav and since flac is a lossless compression format the quality is the same as the original.

All the flac files are going up right now, they should be available for you in a few hours.

If you want to download all the concerts you are in for about 2.5 gigs of data.

FILES UPDATED!

Post by PerG » Sun Oct 22, 2006 1:20 pm

New rips!

Thanks to the joint efforts of Mikael and Christian :D , I've been in position to make new vinyl rips from some of the rarities. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a problem with some of these rips as the singles were a bit damaged (by moist?) and therefor tended to crackle and pop a bit. Most of it was cleaned with a noise reduction filter but that also affect the dynamics a bit in a negative way. Anyway, I'll think you'll find these new files well worth a download. :D The files are compressed with FLAC (lossless compression).

Telulah (B-side to Shake My Head and Leave)
What a Night (B-side to She's Got Style)
Medicine (B-side to What A Night)
Turn On To Jesus (A-side single).
The Day The Earth Caught Fire (A-side single)

http://xchange.cityboy.org/rarities_perg/

And of course, a big thanks to Rito for providing the space for the files!

PS! It was a real treat seeing the backside of the cover of "Turn On To Jesus" completely signed with comments from the guys! Don't miss that cover scan among the new files! :D
