40 Years Ago Today: Swedish Radioshow "Poporama"!

For all lovers of Swedish Radioshow "Poporama", here is a site loaded with cassette recordings of the show, including the one which was broadcasted on this very day 40 years ago (a Friday back then). You will find some classic songs in that particular show which was aired in stereo for the first tim...

Mario Vargas Llosa and City Boy

I just happened to notice a strange coincidence between Peruan author (and Nobel Prize winner) Mario Vargas Llosa and City Boy. In 1981, the same year as It's Personal was released, Vargas Llosa's novel "La guerra del fin del mundo" was published. Or was it really a coincidence? Could Lol perhaps be...

Misprinted lyrics?

There seems to be a difference between what the printed lyrics says and what is actually sung in "The Greatest Story Ever Told": The print says: Around her neck, was draped a snake, she held him to her And on her arm, a silver charm, with Roman numbers He saw an eye gleaming like a coal and breathin...

Re: 40th Anniversary of the first two albums

OK, the mighty Duck has consulted his sacred diaries and has some answers to your mysteries!!! The following dates only apply to the UK unless otherwise noted. A single was released on 10/3/75 which I assume was "Shake My Head And Leave". The first album was released 2/20/76. The second single: "Do...

Re: My Fantasy 2006 Vertigo City Boy Series Reissue

Totally agree with that. Nice work! I'm specially amazed how they pulled off a cover like DATR decades before photoshop!! :D As a matter fact, I mailed a question to the photographer Paul Wakefield himself and got this reply back: It was a tricky set-up and long before Photoshop as you rightly say....

Re: The Day the Earth Caught Fire getting reissued?

Anyway, it's good to learn that the reissue is, it seems, being licensed through Universal Music, UK. Did anyone at your source talk about any remastering, though? ...Oh, and that bit about using liner notes from "Heads Are Rolling" is not particularly reassuring: Does this mean that the partially ...

Re: The Day the Earth Caught Fire getting reissued?

I got in touch with Talking Elephant about this release.

They say the masters were via Universal Music UK. Packaging contains a four page booklet with four photos of the band, and some liner notes used on "Heads Are Rolling" (!). For the back inlay they have used the original single artwork.

Re: Collaborative Spotify Playlist - Contribute!

Hello [email protected]! From within the Spotify app/program and logged in: first you have to "Follow" the list and then you can add the song by clicking "Add to playlist". How you do all that depends on the platform, but for example a Windows-pc should have the "Follow" button at the top of the playlist. The...

Re: Collaborative Spotify Playlist - Contribute!

Christmas is coming up... Spotify is now available in loads of countries. I'm sure you'll have some time listening to great music. Why don't add songs to the collaborative Spotify playlist! It's still available! https://open.spotify.com/user/etamyrer/playlist/3hI0ItPzEwrIFZ5E4GbbmM or you'...

Re: RIP David Bowie

I usually don't participate on these RIP threads, but Bowie and his music mean very much to me. Hearing the news about his death was a complete shock, also a weird feeling like it was a relative who had died. My favourite Bowie track is "Word on a Wing", followed by "Ashes to Ashes" and "Heroes". Th...

Re: 40th Anniversary of the first two albums

I think we can start celebrating on February 14! :D What I know we only have these specific dates: City Boy: February 14, 1976 Book Early: September 1, 1978 The Day The Earth Caught Fire: August 10, 1979 I checked the trusty diaries and, indeed you are correct! BTW; Happy New Year to all here! :chee...
