Re: City Boy questions

Hello Daisy, I can certainly share a few memories about recording... I'll probably do it album by album - a bit at a time - if you don't mind. The main thing that characterized the first album was that the whole thing was recorded in eight days. Mutt Lange, the producer, hardly slept the whole week ...

Re: City Boy questions

Hello, Daisy, and welcome to the City Boy website! Your question is very open, and very large in terms of what I could write. I'm going to have to ask you to be patient... unless you'd be satisfied with just a few headline memories, as it were. As I've said elsewhere on the website before, I do have...

Re: Live And Dangerous

You do realise that "Book Early" was originally going to be titled "Dangerous Ground"? Thin Lizzy were on the same label as City Boy, and when we discovered that they were about to release "Live and Dangerous," we and Vertigo/Phonogram agreed that it might be a bit confusing for record buyers, so we...

Re: Music that touches your heart

Dear Roz, What a wonderful topic to raise! I agree with you about much of the music of Paul Simon. I do believe that music that touches the heart of a person is generally music that that person associates with a particular time or sequence of events in their life. I say "generally" because I think t...

Re: City Boy questions

VdGG - yes, I remember they were a nice bunch of guys who were recording an album in one of the smaller studios at Rockfield. I spent time chatting with the lead vocalist on more than one occasion. I don't remember any of us playing on their album or vice versa... That's about it really! Best wishes...

Earthquake

This has also been posted on the main City Boy board, but I'm repeating it here for the reasons specified below. Outoftune, thank you for being the first person to respond to my challenge on this “Earthquake” topic. Before committing myself to answering your questions, however, I'm going to state wh...

Re: Earthquake

Outoftune, thank you for being the first person to respond to my challenge on this “Earthquake” topic. Before committing myself to answering your questions, however, I'm going to state what I suggested above – namely, that the City Boy Forum is not really the place where such discussion should take ...

Re: Earthquake

My goodness! True indeed. It was back in 2003. Juniper actually felt the tremor from the "minor" earthquake in the Midlands that took place that night (can't remember the date) - and we were in Bath. It's weird how Sky news still have it posted - eight years on! This could start a whole discussion a...

Re: CB Tidbit

Hi y'all! I can clarify this one... My first teaching job was back in 1972 in the Alexandra High School in Tipton near Birmingham. In my short time there I started a music appreciation society, and Geoff Tristram was a very active 6th. Form member. He was - and probably is - a very gifted musician a...

September Update

Hello! It's some time since I posted something here, and I'm in the process of writing to some of you, so I figured I'd share one or two things I've been writing to those people so everyone who's interested might know what's going on with – for example – the proposed eighth City Boy album. Let me de...

Re: Talk of a reformation of City Boy

Dear Jesiah, I am ashamed to say that I have not looked at the City Boy website for several months, and it is only today I have seen your post! How delightful it is to hear your account of your getting to know about City Boy - I have to say I have introduced many people much younger than me to the b...

Re: Talk of a reformation of City Boy

Thanks Joerg! Unfortunately the support I need right now is mainly associated with lack of funds, but I'm not going to go in that direction this time.... thank you anyway for your sentiment. Unless one of you out there is very rich I'm going to have to trust in my God to provide what is needed as an...

Re: Talk of a reformation of City Boy

By the way, Robin, I saw your posting about the music business. I know I should reply on that topic, but I know you'll read this here! YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT IN EVERYTHING YOU SAY. We are being gradually led into a new world order. But, this knowledge is dangerous without Christ, believe me. I won...

Re: Talk of a reformation of City Boy

Joerg, Yes, apologies, there is little more to report than last time Geoff posted something. Both Roy and I are determined to proceed, and we have been approached by someone willing to manage us. We have much more than an album's worth of excellent material between us. Much negativity from - let me ...
