Re: Turn on to Jesus

Hi all! Good to see some activity on here again. Anyway, the most recent issue of Rock Candy Magazine (August-September 2018) has a little piece on the success of "5.7.0.5.", as part of a "Step back in time" series they do. There are some quotes from Steve Broughton interview back in the day, as we...

Re: music similar to supertramp

While I don't own a single Supertramp album, I'm currently warming to some of the more pop-oriented music from the seventies that I previously regarded as somewhat (too) light in the guitar department – the 2CD "Pure McCartney" Macca/Wings collection being my latest discovery – so I'll also be curio...

Re: Another horror night..

I was utterly shocked in learning these news, Bertrand, and very sorry to see it happening to your beloved France. In terms of Andy's final observation, however, I unfortunately think any country could be the next target: These are scary times, indeed.

Re: The Day the Earth Caught Fire getting reissued?

Thanks, again, Mikael, for relaying what Talking Elephant replied. I find it's a startlingly honest answer which raises a couple of questions in its own right: 1. Is there really money to be made from simply re-pressing the audio from previous editions, both of which are still available, although te...

Re: The Day the Earth Caught Fire getting reissued?

I have this edited track on the 7-inch single... i.m.o. the editing didn't do the song any good... no need to add it as a bonus track if you ask me... Piet, fully agree. I actually don't have the edited version in any format, which really says it all. As for the 1979 Zella demos - yeah, I'd certain...

Re: The Day the Earth Caught Fire getting reissued?

To my knowledge, no left-overs from the "The Day the Earth Caught Fire" sessions have ever seen the light on an official release, but if anyone knows otherwise, please speak up! :D The only exception would be the shorter edit of the title track, as used in the music video. The press blurb (read: the...

Re: The Day the Earth Caught Fire getting reissued?

Sorry to leave you hanging for so long with this post, beatlesque, but thanks for the heads-up regarding the reissue - none of my regular internet haunts have publicized any information on it so far, as a matter of fact! Mikael, it's good that you went straight to the source: I did some research of ...

Re: Cats in Space

Cats In Space have my seal of approval, too. A nice little amalgam of melodic rock and hints of probably just about any great '70's pop and/or rock band you can think of. I expect it's highly derivative for those of you who know your Supertramp/10 CC/Wings/Sweet, but I enjoyed it. Some excellent har...

Re: "Ten Best" - some new release?

Considering the other releases this label lists in its online catalog, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if this is simply Renaissance Records, Itsaboutmusic, Burning Airplane etc. in its latest (and yet another dis)guise. Given the comparatively few licensings of City Boy music/albums in Europe...

Re: The first four albums: New reissues due in July.

I've been pondering the odd number issue myself. It's pure speculation, of course, but my guess is that Lemon Recordings would go for the three albums spread across two CDs, with no bonus tracks included. Why? Now, while "The Day the Earth Caught Fire" is considered something of an artistic triumph ...

Re: It's Personal - redesign

That's a cool new take on the "It's Personal" artwork, Mikael. I'm however not entirely sure if I like the rearranging of the faces: It's either down to the visual balance of the images changing somewhat or simply the fact that I'm used to seeing it differently ... or possibly both. Overall, your ve...

Re: The first four albums: New reissues due in July.

I've had a chance to listen to most of the re-issues twice now, and I have to say that I like what I'm hearing so far. I haven't bothered to do comparison tests between these and other editions yet, but my first impression is that these remasters may be a little less compressed soundwise than the Ja...
